Currency converter
Multiply an amount by a rate you supply. That is the whole tool, on purpose: no feed, no refresh, no pretence that the number is live.
Why the rate is yours to enter
Every other converter on the internet fetches a live rate. This one does not, deliberately. Serving live prices makes a site a market data service, with the accuracy expectations and the regulatory character that carries. A calculator that works on the rate you give it stays a calculator.
Practically, you also get a better answer: the rate that matters is the one your broker or bank will actually give you, spread included - not a mid-market rate no retail customer transacts at. Enter that, and the output is real.
Worked example
Converting £1,000 at a rate of 1.2650.
- 1,000 × 1.2650 = 1,265.00
- The same rate the other way round: 1 ÷ 1.2650 = 0.7905
The unit test suite pins these exact figures.
