What a futures journal must record

The fixed fields per trade, decided before the first entry: the explicit contract symbol - never the alias - the session, the rule that fired with its frozen triple, the roll transactions as their own species, and the margin picture at entry. The record's job is witnessing the machine: what the clause said, what the account did, and what the machinery charged.
