Beyond the vanilla options the track taught lie exotics and structured products: options with path-dependent payoffs, barriers, or multiple underlyings, and retail structured products that package options into complex payoffs sold as investments. Described for comprehension and for defence - because structured products in particular are marketed to retail with their embedded options and real risks obscured, and recognising the option inside the product is the reader's protection.
