Volatility as an asset in its own right
volatility as an asset
The deep end's reframing: options make volatility a tradeable asset in its own right - long options are long volatility, short options short it, and structures can isolate volatility from direction entirely, so a trader can be positioned purely on whether the market moves more or less than priced. Volatility has its own products, its own indices, and its own dynamics - a whole dimension of markets that options open and that exists nowhere else.
