Outcome bias, and reviewing process instead

outcome bias

Outcome bias is judging a decision by how it turned out rather than by whether it was sound when made. In trading it has a specific and expensive form: a rule broken on a trade that happened to win teaches you to break the rule again. Reviewing by outcome trains you to repeat whatever worked, which over a large enough sample is the same as having no process.
