The trade you did not take
rejected setups
A journal that records only executed trades contains a filtered sample: the trades you approved of at the time. Recording setups that qualified but were skipped, and trades taken that broke the rules, is what makes the record complete enough to analyse. It is the same selection bias that invalidates a backtest, appearing in your own data.
