Splits, and what they do to positions and charts

A re-denomination of the share count: a 5-for-1 split turns each share into five, each worth a fifth - same company, same claim, same position value, more pieces. Nothing economic changes at the moment of the split; everything cosmetic does - the price, the chart's history, the option chain's strikes - and the difference between those two sentences is the lesson.
